Many users experience "sudden rapid battery drain" with their used iPhones, which isn't always due to battery aging. It could be caused by the following four issues—you can troubleshoot them one by one:
1.System version problems
Older systems may have power consumption bugs. For example, some versions below iOS 15 have abnormal background process management that leads to fast battery drain. It is recommended to upgrade to the latest stable iOS version to fix known vulnerabilities.
2.Abnormal background apps
An app may freeze and keep running in the background, consuming a lot of CPU resources and increasing power usage. You can check the battery usage ranking in Settings > Battery and force close the problematic app.
3.Location/Bluetooth not turned off
Leaving Location Services or Bluetooth on for long periods will drain the battery continuously, even when not in use. It is advisable to turn them off manually when not needed.
4.Poor battery connection
A used iPhone may have a loose battery cable due to previous repairs. Poor contact can cause unstable power supply, manifesting as rapid battery drain or sudden shutdowns. You can take it to an authorized store to check the cable connection.
If the problem persists after troubleshooting and the battery health is below 80%, the battery itself may be aging. It is recommended to replace the battery to avoid affecting normal use.
